The journalist's panel and voting readers of JUST MELBOURNE awarded the Just Melbourne "Readers Choice Award", in the fantasy category, to Cheyenne Wolf new book "Autumn".
Cheyenne Wolf is an American writer from the state of Missouri, MO as she likes to tell us.
Cheyenne has Native American blood in her, and it shows in her writing.
She describes creatures of legends with great ability and originality, as if they came from the old oral tribal tradition.
Although these creatures are thousands of year old, they have adapted to their environment and seem totally modern to us; but with a wisdom and strength we seem to have lost.
Cheyenne Wolf is currently completing a series of books and her dedication to her work is relentless.
Her writing can sometimes be as tempestuous as her private life, yet nothing can stop her.
She draws her inspiration from a variety of really interesting characters she meets in real life, then transforms them in mythical creatures, who sound so real because they are.
Cheyenne has a knack for weaving a web of intrigue that leaves you breathless.
Her descriptions are so detailed that all scenes come to life so effortlessly, they leave a lasting imprint on your mind.
If they had invented 3D writing, this would be it, the story jumps at you and comes alive.
So much so, that readers found after reading just a few lines, they were hooked and wanted more.
Generally, fantasy stories appeal only to a niche market, but it seems Cheyenne has found a way to enlarge her audience, with people who would have never read a fantasy book.
So I don't know if we should still categorize "Autumn" as a "Fantasy" book, or just a good book you won't be able to put down.
That's what I call a good book.
If you haven't read any of "Autumn" excerpts yet, you can read some in this magazine in the REVIEW section.
As our Autralian iconic personality Molly Meldrum use to say: "Do yourself a favour and read it", you will be pleasantly surprised. jf
