THE LOW BUDGET MEN SAVE LIVES

the_low_budget_men

If you don’t know yet who THE LOW BUDGET MEN are, they are a French band with a difference, a band of doctors with a mission. The front man Claude Marriottini is not only the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the band but also a leading cardiologist surgeon.

The LOW BUDGET MEN donate all their takings towards buying AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), the kind you see in movies when they shout: “Clear!”, then release an electric charge to the patient’s heart to try to restart it.

This particular type automates the diagnosis of treatable rhythms, and in many cases can be operated successfully,  even by untrained bystanders.

France has an epidemic of young and old suffering cardiac arrest, a higher percentage than car accidents victims, and Doctor Mariottini’s aim is to have defibrillators installed in as many public places as possible, including all pharmacies, to cut down response time.

The band came to the limelight after Dr Mariottini had to install a pacemaker urgently, on famous French actor and ex- band member of LES CHARLOTS, Gerard Renaldi.

After a quick and very smooth procedure, Gerard was so impressed that he vowed to help the good Doctor and his friends to achieve their dream for a good cause.

The band is a family affair and includes Claude Marriottini, lead singer and rhythm guitar, his brother Jean-Pierre Mariottini, a dentist surgeon on drums, his nephew Pierre Mariottini (a law graduate) on lead guitar, and their good friends Stephane Mirc (from the Education Department) on bass, and the beautiful Emanuelle singing harmonies.

Often, actor Gerard Renaldi joins them on stage, as a backing singer.

They have been packing venues, charming crowds with their sixties sound.

The band has adapted many KINKS songs (A popular group of the sixties), but also sing their own originals in English.

Their fans understand that buying their CD’s can also save lives.

Now that they have become so popular, they formed a charitable organization called 20,000 vies (20,000 lives), this is the number of lives they plan to save every year with their project.

They have had many TV interviews and televised concerts and French people have responded to them enthusiastically.
